I and Chris went down to Achill Island for a quick look around, just a general sightseeing - birdwatching trip. Not a huge variety of birds around but we did see a kingfisher happily fishing away as well as some Chough's flying past at very close range.

The fishing has been fairly mixed this month, earlier in the month there was some good fishing to be had down at the river with good bags of Bream and Roach being had through the night, a group of belgium lads had a great day pike fishing.
The Canal at Abbeyshrule has recovered a bit now and several good bags of Tench have been had from near the bridge.
The powerstation at Lanseboro is back in action and the hot stretch should be producing some mixed bags of fish, however each time we have been past there nobody has been fishing it. Please feel free to let us know if you have had any results from down there.
The shannon at Athlone produced some good bags of Bream and Hybrids early in the month but it has all gone fairly quiet at present.
Galway was the last outing for birdwatching this month, there are some scarce birds turning up down there, we saw a long distance sighting of a sabine's gull. There are also lots of wading birds working away throught the mud at the end of Nemo's Pier. There have also been a steadily increasing number of Wigeon arriving, Teal and Tufted Duck. A Carrion crow made a nice sighting down at Salthill.
