The Mountains of Kerry

Ireland has always been world renowned for its spectacular view and the mountains in Kerry are breath-taking. Some of the smaller and less traveled roads lead right up through the mountains, here the cloud level is below the hight of the peaks and create views such as the one shown above. The views out accross the fields below are equally as impressive. Here too in the high peaks there is always a chance of sighting flora and fauna of interest.
Peregrines nest up on the open rocky faces, as well as buzzards, sparrowhawks and even osprey have been seen here fishing in the mountain loughs. There are several substantial mountain bogs up in the mountain which give excellent cover for the snipe which reside in them.
One excellent point about these mountains is that at any time of year the views they offer are all so different. The Spring is full of small bird life, and the new growth on the plants that colonise the rocks, Summer offers a host of fabulous views and flowers in full colour, Autumn sees the heathers open in their purple and red hues and finally Winter offers a stark and barren scenery with snow capped mountains and peregrines circling overhead looking for food.
