(these reports are displayed as most recent first)
11th - 24th May
Good angling weather, little rain with the odd blustery showers, river conditions is on the low side.
With the Bristol Boys over in force (8) and the Boys from Nottingham, besides many anglers from all over, things have not improved. The Bristol lads had little success apart from late night Hybrids at Tommy's.
All are looking for a Bite let alone a Fish, Bernie and Phil from Notts managed to find a few Tench on the Canal and little else, what with the Canal in it's poorest state ever not only the authorities having (Pelleted) the whole stretch as far as I could Drive too and at all other access points along the canal to clear the Pads along with all weed, not only that but we are suffering from (The European Fish Bandits) As far as I can understand now there's not a water around hear that's not affected, the Canal is almost Fishless most Ponds have been netted at night, even the small Lake Drum has had nets retrieved by anglers and reported to the Garda (little they can do!!)
I myself along with Chris have tried every venue around; we did hear there was little success at Ballykerran for a few days fishing at The Caravan Park with catches of Hybrids and Roach. Trips to the river proved to be waste of time (sorry too say) Peter have given up on the canal and has turned to a commercial pond at Roosky, at least he's getting Fish.
A note on the Wild Life, that's in full flow at the moment, with all its young happily feeding and fledging.
At least we'll have something to do!!
8th - 10th May
Weather is not too bad, there's more wind than of late SW.
Sadly the fishing is gone down hill over the last few days with little or nothing on the Inny, most of the spawning has been done at White Bridge and the fish have disappeared somewhere (I don't know where). Tench have been rather slow on the Canal with only a few anglers managing to connect with fish.
Very few Roach have been seen, things seems to be on hold for some reason what with a poor showing of anglers its hard to know what's going on anywhere. But I'll keep going, there are more boys coming this week so let's hope they find some fish. Chris and I followed Dave and Keith to the River Suck because they had been told there's plenty of sport to be had (Wrong!!!) It needs filling in.
2nd / 7th May
The weather is still holding on to it's Easterly flow which is not the best, but on the 5th it backed to South Westerly with some cloud cover and the odd shower.
Things at White Bridge continued for a few days and then it switched off and the fish were there but had no intentions of feeding. The Midland Boys continued to have great sport with further catches of Large Roach, Hybrids and the odd Trout, finally having to return home having had a great week.
There have been plenty of anglers coming from far and wide to this venue some have managed to find the fish lower down from the bridge with good catches others have struggled for a bite.
My guests Dave Diment and Keith Helyar also have had good sport on their first 3days fishing the Inny at White Bridge with Roach in excess of 2lbs and some great Hybrids, sadly Dave lost a good Bream at the net in this fast water. A session on the Canal above Abbeyshrule did not live up to our expectations, as all this stretch has been cleared of Weed and Pads with a number of Pleasure Boats now plying the Canal with 4 of us fishing I was lucky to land my first Tench this year and we all shared plenty of small fish.

Two Lads from Roscommon were at The Bog Hole overnight 6th/7th with a few Hybrids, Roach and plenty of Perch.

Dave and Keith struggled a bit today with little to show the few hours spent at White Bridge and a planned boat trip on the Lough which had to be cancelled due to the strong winds.
We did have a bit of excitement with a wedding:

Alas it was not between Tom and Lizzy; but Steven Boyd and Mary Ferguson decided to have their wedding celebrations down at Murray's with a Cowboys and Indians theme. The following day the happy couple set off to Leitrim in a beautifully restored horse drawn caravan and we wish them much luck and happiness.

May 1st
Weather is great apart from that East Wind which has a chill about it.
Martin and Darren had today on the
Canal at Abbeyshrule above the airfield and collected
some fine Tench with
a helping of Roach and Rudd.

The Tiverton Mob is on the Inny around White Bridge somewhere and the results will filter through shortly, seems like it's the in place at this moment.
With myself preparing to receive my
first anglers I find no time for fishing at all
but lets hope the fish stay
around for a while so I can join them on the bank.
