July 05

(these reports are displayed as most recent first)

01 - 31 July 05

For this month, it's a typical July; Hot spells not much Rain leading to Low water levels and High Weed Growth.

Apart from all that Doom and Gloom we have had good sport on the Canal and on the River Inny all in the latter parts of the day when things cooled down fishing up until dark.

With the odd angler popping up we direct them to various venues where fish could be caught and they had good sport…. The canal has been where the Tench have been kind to us even with my friends over for a break; they had Tench, Rudd and Roach, to their delight.

Paul Holroid found Brian, Debs and I on the Canal and the Tench were obliging

Peter and Chris have tried most spots and have had fish in small quantities but have been beaten by the lack of water and high temperatures. Above Red Bridge is always a favourite this time of the year where the river has more flow and on several trips made the most of good fishing on smallish Roach, Hybrids, and Perch with the odd small Rudd.

Falling back to the Entrance of the lake at the last hour to connect with good size Hybrids and Roach, unfortunately no Bream!! On saying that, with a drive to Barrymore on the far side of Lough Ree with Dougy and Jean to view the Vista one evening, we spotted a number of Large Bream rolling on the surface just off the point, this must be a Autumn venue when the boat traffic lessens.

Although the fishing is at a Low the Grass and Hay season is at full stretch with many an hour lending a hand to gather the crop. Further more it seems to be a great time for New Born Donkeys; they seem to be at every corner and of course the usual annual Agricultural Shows, Craft shows and Pony Shows.
