January 05
(these reports are displayed with the most recent first)
16th to 23rd January
Weather for most of the week has been indescribable apart for the last 2 days with good Sunshine and early Frosts; river is still over the banks in parts but clear of debris.
Peter, Frank and I were glad to get out of the house for a trip to the river in such good conditions. Finding the river very high, Frank kept to swims 6/7 Peter and I fished 23/24. After a couple of hours things seemed to be on hold apart from Peter who let out screams of delight after having a Bite (Wow) to find himself into a lively Brown Trout around the 2lb. mark.
This was the total for our fishing session, but the fresh air was Grand. With the cold air arriving it was time for cups of tea at Franks cottage around the welcoming warmth of his range and further discussions on where and when will the fish turn up!
The first of the spring lambs are being born at present

One of locals at the pub has now taken to working there as well, Kitty can now be found at Murrays along with lizzy and most of the rest of the community.

8th to 14th January 05
Rain, Rain and more Rain, with the river rising fast things are looking grim for a spot of fishing these days.
With one exception of the 13th Jan with a lull in the weather Peter and I had a few hours on the river ( well more like in the river) with the sun shining all day after a Hard Frost last night we managed to get to the river to find it over the banks in more than one place. We fished swims 24/25 with a hard pull on; it was Cruel, moving up to swims 32 only to find it under water from the gate onwards.

After wading through the gate (Peter managed 2 boots full of water) owing to the shortness of his legs and cheap Boots, I refused to try and fish, Peter was at it straight away using the electric fence as a Rod-Rest (it was not on) after an hour and a couple of pictures we pulled out and returned to Peters for Tea and a warm up - the only fish we saw were in 'The Angling Times'.
2nd - 5th January 2005
Wintry weather has been on us for weeks now, Cold, Windy and Wet.
Christmas Day was the Tops with 3ins. of Snow, river conditions have been up and down with just the odd short trips.
Pre Christmas; Peter and Frank had their moments in between storms with reasonable catches at The Bog Hole with good Hybrids along with some decent Roach, while I found it hard to get out of bed.
Last days in December found things very hard to get motivated what with High Winds and Rain which lead to very little to report, I do apologise. The New year has been no better, Frank and Peter had a few hours on the 2nd and managed 4 good Hybrids and a few Perch, Tuesday the 4th Peter was alone once more at swim 32 - 4 bites 2 Hybrids and returned giving out that we should have been there. Still its the time of the year for reflecting on last years follies and looking forward to this year.
Theres lots of talk over the latter part of the year regarding to the Lack of Fish, Yes I agree that the Bream were very scarce but the Roach and Hybrid fishing has been outstanding, lets hope this year the weather conditions are with us and therell be Shoals of Bream for the taking.

Firstly: HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!
Welcome to another new season on the River Inny.
We did just want to send our hopes and prayers to the survivors of the terrible tragedy that hit Indonesia, East India, Somalia, Thailand and to all of the other affected areas. It is a very hard and painful start to a new year and we can only hope the regions hit can recover as soon as possible.
Please do try to give to the national appeals if possible as the countries involved have suffered so much..... Thank you !!
