Mushrooms and Toadstools are very common in Ireland but do require expert identification before being considered for eating !!
Forrest areas such as Portumna Forrest Park offer ideal conditions for a huge range of species, open fields in the autumn months can be covered in both mushrooms and toadstools.
Large Puffballs can be located as well as fresh and delicious field mushroom.

The traditional Irish way of preparing the fresh edible mushrooms is to add some salt and place them on top of the Stanley Range, the heat from the range cooks them through quickly and they taste supurb.
