Friday 28th
Last day of the month brought Heavy rain and high Winds all day, very cold SW.
Tuesday 25th
A fine day, with the wind dropping off and the temperature rising, 10/11c.
The levels are now dropping all round with good sunny spell this is encouraging for the fishing. Frank and Peter were out at Tommys first they tried the Gravel Bank for an hour with no results Up to The Bog Hole where they were greeted with Bites in the first hour and a half which dropped off towards last light; Here they had 2 Good Hybrids and 2 perch with good bites in-between but failing to contact fish but its an improvement all the while
Sunday 23rd.
The River Inny today, weather much the same wind in the SW.
I myself was out early for a change to find the wind was still getting the better of things. Straight to "The Bog Hole" conditions weren't too bad so I fished for 3hrs. Not to encounter a bite. Moved back to The Slack at the High Back for an hour, nothing doing here either; next move was to Tommy's for Tea and a chat I learned after, that Frank and Peter popped down and fished the "Bog Hole" at 4pm, after I came out, and had small bites and Frank caught 1 Hybrid. Wow!!!
Saturday 22nd.
Good sunny spells, Milder with SE. wind Moderate.
Frank and I went to the River Suck to see if we could tempt some winter fish, at "Coreen Ford" we found the river was lower and quite fishable but the wind was our worst enemy, it only allowed us to fish up stream After a couple of hours we had to pull out due to the lack of fish. Next move we were upstream at "The Boathouse" same conditions with an added bonus, there were other anglers there..3 Pike anglers, on chatting with them we learned they had 5 Pike this day ranging from 4-5lbs upto 22lbs. Some good Pike!
We set up downstream of them hoping there would be fodder fish around, Wrong!! So we left the Pikers to their fishing.
Sunday 16th.
Very cold with hard frosts, wind in the South strong. Good sunshine.
Peter and Frank was reading up on a spot on the Shannon above Lanesbough, so off they went to find a good spot 5-8ft, water but it was facing the strong wind and very difficult to fish so they will try again before writing it off.
Report from Tommy .Derek and a friend took a boat out this afternoon to Pike fish, in and around Bethlem Point and made contact with 2 Pike, one of 19lbs, the other 21lbs. Great sport for a few hours.
Wednesday 12th.
Good sunshine but low temperatures, little wind.
Frank went over to Doonis this Wednesday afternoon to find conditions were perfect,
14ft of water not a ripple Not a Bite.
Sunday 9th.
I ventured out for the second time this year on one of the best days so far;
Light SW.wind, good sunshine all day. I started at the first bend for 1 hour to find the fish were not interested, next stop at the top entrance Where things looked great? Upstream wind, Light, no response at all. Finally I visited "The Bog Hole" here I thought that there sure to be something moving, 1 bite and that I would say was a Trout the way it went off, that was it for the day.
Tea with Tommy/ Vera rounded off a nice day out.
Frank and Peter went off to the River Hind on the far side of the lake after hearing of a great clean up that was supposed to have taken place in the autumn, Not So and no sign of any life in the river.
The forecast for the coming week is good, lots of sun and mild, this could do well!!
Wednesday 5th.
Mild, winds from the SW. Light. A trip to Tommy's this afternoon until dark, failed to turn up a Bite. River in great shape Steady pull on very clear of debris.
Sunday 2nd.
Wet and Windy that's the story today, overcast NW.
Wind Showers. Such a change, from yesterday.
Saturday 1st.
A really bright day, Sunshine but the wind is still in the North and very cold.
Not a day for sitting on the river Inny as you get it right in your face.
