December 2003
26th December Boxing day
Rained all night but cleared up lunchtime, wind in the West veering N West cold.
Well after all the Christmas Fare it was time to venture out away from the Tele. Frank, Peter and myself made a trip to the river to find the wind upstream and strong with the threat of showers. It was mid day when we got to the bank, Peter fished the High Bank I fished the Willow Backwater Frank settled into his swim above the Cow-Drink, little happened for the first 30 mins, then Frank was into Bites (small ones at that) Peter drew blank where he was and moved to The Bog Hole I was quite happy out of the wind where I was.
Fish started to arrive in the shape of small Roach, Hybrids and Perch, I managed 4 Roach and 6 Perch, Peter, however was shrieking his delight at hooking into a good fish (Bream around the 4lbs.Mark) that led Frank and me to hastily up sticks and 'Poach' as near to Peter as he would allow us too (3 under 1 Brollie was too much).
......Two Nice Fish.......
Worm/Maggot, Feeder tactics were employed in a good
flowing river with slight debris after the rains.
2-30pm was the end to
that session due to the wind strength and the cold, from 9c down to 5c in 2
½ hours,
Final results
Peter - 5 bream,
Frank - 2 Bream,
Roach and small Hybrids.
Myself, I managed 4 Roach, 6 Perch and Frost Bite.
Back at Tommys kitchen for Hot Tea fortified with a drop of Paddys and warm Soda Bread/Butter.
A Great few Hours.
I just want to Wish everyone
a very
Merry Christmas

And Tight Lines for 2004
Thank you all for visiting the site throughout the year and for making it such a fun thing to do.
The fishing reports will start again as soon as the new year has begun and the fish have started biting again.
December 1st /21st
Weather has been very good, showers have been on and off but the river conditions are great. With frosts over night in the early days led to very mild conditions of late.
12th of December was a great day
for Derek Mizak and his good wife, fishing from a boat hired from Tommy Foxe
they were upstream on the river Inny spinning and trolling for Pike.
To
Dereks delight he hooked into a Big Fish, which gave him the battle of
his life, after 15mins or so he saw his fish break the surface behind the boat,
Wow! This was the big one, a Specimen Pike weighing in at a great 23lbs.
This fish is truly the best Ive seen from the river in a long time, Derek thought he had surely hooked the bottom.

Well-done Derek.
Not forgetting Frank and Peter, who also has been having outstanding sport on the river from the First Bend to The Bog Hole 5 outings in various swims have produced great Bream, Hybrids, Roach and Perch with some outstanding Female Trout migrating upstream.
40lbs was the best Bag held by Frank with Peter following up with catches of around 30lbs.
At the First Bend frank on one of his trips sat in corner for a last throw and hit into a Great Hybrid around the 6lb mark (Franks best Hybrid on the river so far).
Peter stuck to The Bog Hole and it paid off with 4 great Bream, with the odd Perch on one of his outings.
Its all looking good at the moment
