Despite all the weather conditions on a daily basis there has been days when one could get out for a few hours, with the river in a good state, although slightly higher remains fishable.

The Hybrids are the main stay with evening sessions very rewarding at the river mouth, there are a few good Roach among them, but no sign of the larger Rudd at the moment. Chris and I visited the ponds around Strokestown only to find you couldn't get near them due to the water levels so we ended up on the Canal at Abbeyshrule. It was much the same story as before, very little weed and a lack of fish.

So we decided to have a short break and toured Clare, Kerry and Cork only to find it was nearly as bad as around here and the fact that there was millions of tourists did not suit our quiet way of life around the Inny.

We turned the trip into a sight seeing trip and was very impressed by the scenic views, not too much in the way of wildlife, the odd bird and a trip across to The Blasket Islands, where Jim found it all too much, and kept repeating the phrase "It's all ****ing Rocks and Water.

We took Jim as a assistant just in case we got stuck in a Bog or up a Mountain.

We stayed in Fenit for 5 days to relax and try the Guinness along with its hospitality, it so happened to be the best 5 days for the weather, thus enabling us to take lots of photos of choughs, razorbills and gulls and see all the local tourist spots.

I tried a spot of fishing from the pier for a couple of hours just to let our meal digest (No Fish, great Meal) now were back and ready for the forthcoming Autumn lets hope it will be better than the Summer period.
